Don't forget about AnimeHELL at AKON16!

Friday night, 9pm at State Room 1 Posted by Hello

AnimeHELL got misplaced on AKon16's schedule, but with few e-mails we worked it all out. AnimeHELL is still a go, we'll be haunting State Room 1 at 9pm on Friday night with all your favorites and some new stuff, too. Look for the flyers at the Adam's Mark hotel for details.

Animazement '05: Crazy Monkey Hell

Once more, Hell at Animazement was a rousing success, with the main ballroom packed to the gills with easily amused attendees. Thanks to everyone who showed up and special kudos to David Smith for providing the propaganda and to Daryl Surat for hanging out and providing moral support in David's absence.

I've followed gaav's lead and posted the complete Hell line-up plus commentary in the AnimeHELL forum, so cruise on over for the gory details.

Phil, who hopes to start posting somewhat more often than once a year...

Animazement 2K5

Though the real Hell action is no doubt north of the border this weekend, Phil Lee sends me to send word of Hell at Animazement 2005 in Raleigh, North Carolina on Friday. He has a very musical Hell in the works, it sounds like, with lots of weird music videos, some East Indian stuff involving tractors in some fashion, mannequin family sitcoms, Bob Sapp guest-starring on the live-action You're Under Arrest, Survival Tobita versus Ken the Box on the high-school gym mats of the Saitama Pro-Wrestling Corporation, and other good stuff. Friday at 11PM in the main auditorium, assuming they manage to kick out the karaoke contest on time this year.

Because I happened to have the art lying around from this month's OPM anime column, Captain Tylor subs in for the original centerpiece to the flyer, which was deemed too fascist for prime time.

Corn Pone Flicks Reviews REVENGE OF THE SITH

Revenge of the Sith gives us a flick that actually feels like a bona fide Star Wars film after two lukewarm attempts at doing so, and it's nice to have more to enjoy than to criticize, since most of us don't really want to pay for the privilige of anticipated future bitching. We do enough of that for things that life hands us free of charge as it is." - Matt Murray

ACen Hell: From BatBoy to Forklifts

Hello folks,

I'd like to thank everyone in the audience for making this year's Anime Hell at ACen a very fun time not only for everyone else, but especially for me as well. I had a great and manic time at the mixing deck controls and behind the mic. The energy of the crowd was beyond amazing, and getting to lead the 1500+ in the audience in singing 'Fish! Fish! Fish!' was certainly grin-inducing indeed.

Hell was set in the 10pm-Midnight slot, which i was able to start right on the nose. I debuted the Anime Hell Slide Show (like movie theater pre-movie slides) as the crowd entering/warmup tech/stage changeover went on in the ~9:30-10 timeframe.

oh, and to the woman who yelled that she wanted to bear Heino's children, I'm both disturbed and yet oddly intrigued by that remark.

Here's the rough set list of what i ran this year at Anime Hell, with a * indicating it was a clip new to ACen this year, as you can see, quite a lot of new material was in the mix. As expected, Stapler Fahrer Klaus was the featured success, though so many of the old & new stuff got such good response it was by no means a runaway.

When Does Midnite Madness Start at ACen?

We're most definitely certain that there's a high possibility that you'll see Heino at AnimeHELL at Anime Central. But Benny Hill won't be there, because he's dead. And stick around after the show for Midnite Madness, a collection of new and old Anime Parody Dubs with your Master of Ceremonies: Ryan Gavigan!

A Fine Fresh Heino...

The details are vague, but it sounds like there may be an AnimeHELL show at Anime Central this weekend, followed by a Midnite Madness Show of Fan made parody anime dubs. Rumor is we may even spot Heino...

Okay, this may very well be the worst film ever made by man, but I've said that before, so I'll reserve judgement. You can read the full

FUN FACTS!
Jon was amazed at the success of "Feeders" and although he had vowed never to make a sequel to any of his movies he was intrigued when he received a call from the Polonia Brothers informing him that a sequel was in the works.

Due to geographical and scheduling problems Jon couldn't join the Polonias for an actual shoot so it was decided that Jon would shoot material on his own and send it to the Polonias to be edited in with their material.

Jon had his reservations at first but ended up being very happy with the end result. He also ended up shooting more material than previously asked for including various location shots and one death scene which was also pieced together by the Polonias and ended up in the final picture.

The feeder 'puppets' used in the movie weren't the same as the ones used in "Feeders", primarily because they had been destroyed during the first shoot. New puppets had to be fabricated based on the original design and included workable jaws.

AWA is in September

After spending a fruitless ten minutes trying to add the correct AWA dates to the "calendar" on the blog home page, let me just take this time to point out to everybody that Anime Weekend Atlanta is in September, not October.

More info on AWA can be found at www.awa-con.com.

UPDATE
Sorry about that, It's fixed now. [-d!]
