Cardcaptor Sakura 3rd OP - Platinum by Maaya Sakamoto

A Yoko Kanno composition interpreted by the genial Maaya Sakamoto. Platinum or Purachina probably is the most loved CCS opening theme if I were to be asked! Ah, those Cardcaptor Sakura days!

Ryvius' Rating:
7.5/10 Anything by Yoko Kanno and Maaya Sakamoto is synonymous to masterpiece for me! Ever since Yakusoku wa Iranai (their first collaboration for Escaflowne), I have been a huge fan of both Yoko Kanno and Maaya Sakamoto... I don't think I've ever heard even one bad song from those two together. Even if Platinum isn't my favorite YokoxMaaya song, it's still very good. What I've always liked about Yoko Kanno is her amazing orchestral and string arrangements. Both her J-Pop songs and BGM tracks have that in common, which is actually quite rare. Composers generally don't bother making complex string arrangements for pop songs anymore...

Look what I found! It's a younger Maaya singing Platinum live in a classic video! She really is oozing cool! :3

English

I'm a dreamer...
Hidden power...

My world
is made of dreams, love, and worries.
But there are still things lying hidden
that I can't even imagine

Facing the sky, like all the different trees,
I'm gazing right at you.

I want to find my dream... I want to make it come true...
There is nothing that I can't overcome
if I only believe.
Just like singing, just like miracles,
"feelings" can change everything!
Without a doubt... Without a doubt...
It's almost surprising!

I'm a dreamer...
Hidden power...

A world yet unseen...
No matter what awaits me there,
even if it's not the ideal,
I won't be afraid.

The birds travel on the wind
on a journey from today to tomorrow.

I want to tell you... I want to shout it...
I am but one entity in this world.
But like a prayer, like a star,
even with a small light, someday,
I want to be
stronger and stronger.

There are limitless possibilities,
right here in my grasp.
(It's gonna be your world.)

I want to find my dream... I want to make it come true...
There is nothing that I can't overcome,
if I only believe.
Just like singing, just like miracles,
"feelings" can change everything!
Without a doubt... Without a doubt...
It's almost surprising!

Linebarrels of Iron ED2 - Full Song: Remedy by Maaya Sakamoto

Maaya Sakamoto KazeyomiRemember the wonderful ED from Linebarrels of Iron, the lovely song Ame ga furu by Maaya Sakamoto? Well now there's a new ED theme song, and you've guessed it, it's another song by Maaya Sakamoto called Remedy. What a treat!
Remedy is written and arranged by solaya, who did Mitsubachi to Kagakusha on the Saigo no Kajitsu single (ED for the Tsubasa Chronicle OVA Tokyo Revelations). Remedy is also a track from Kazeyomi, her 6th studio album that will be released on January 14th. I can't wait for the album, it contains 2 songs from Macross Frontier, Triangler and the unreleased song Ao no Ether (that was originally sung by Megumi Nakajima). I really love Ao no Ether (watch my piano cover here), and I'm sure Maaya's version will be even better than Megumi's! You can download the full new Linebarrels of Iron ED here.

8/10 Remedy is yet another solid song from Maaya Sakamoto without Yoko Kanno, after the really nice Ame ga Furu, the first ED. Maaya's pleasant voice is as good as ever, and the tune is also really well done. What a happy song! I hope you'll enjoy it as much as I did.

Here's the video clip of the new ED:

3 Anime Songs in Japanese Weekly Top 10 Singles

Kirarin RevolutionThe Oricon marketing surveying firm has announced that three anime songs have entered its latest weekly chart of the top 10 singles in Japan. Since October 29, the MilkyWay trio sold 16,667 copies of its new "Tan Tan Taan!" opening theme song (download full song here) for the Kirarin Revolution anime to reach the #8 slot. The Hello! Project unit is composed of three voice actresses from the anime: Koharu Kusumi (the heroine Kirari Tsukishima herself), Sayaka Kitahara (Noeru Yukino), and Yuu Kikkawa (Kobeni Hanasaki). MilkyWay's debut song, the "Anataboshi" opening song from the same anime, debuted at #3 this past April.

5/10 The OP for Kirarin Revolution is pure Idol J-Pop. It sounds sweet and childish (and includes many bells and funny rap). You can also hear twinkle sounds! I guess it could be worse...
Here's the PV for Tan Tan Taan! by MilkyWay:

Another voice actress with a successful singing career, Maaya Sakamoto, attained the #9 slot with her "Ame ga Furu" ending song from the Linebarrels of Iron anime (download full song here!). The song sold 13,825 copies since October 29 and is Sakamoto's second top-10 song this year, after Macross Frontier's "Triangler" (#3) (download Triangler here).

Haruka Tomatsu stars as the goddess Nagi in the Kannagi anime, and she also sings the "Motto Hade ni ne!" opening theme for the television series (You can download the full OP single here!) The song, which also debuted on October 29, sold 11,505 copies in its first week to place at #10. Tomatsu sang the "Naissance" ending theme for the live-action drama adaptation of Yukie Nasu's Here is Greenwood shōjo comedy manga.

New Maaya Sakamoto Song - ED for Linebarrels of Iron

OMG, a new Maaya Sakamoto song!! I've known about this one for a few weeks now, but I haven't found the time to write about it yet. So here it is! Maaya Sakamoto is one of my favorite Japanese singers, and she's doing the ED for the new Gonzo show Linebarrels of Iron. Ok, the show isn't that great and the OP is quite dreadful (Ali Project) but still, Maaya's song is really nice. It isn't Yoko Kanno good, but it's still a beautiful song. I like the way the song starts off as slow and then becomes uptempo! And I find her voice always soothing and pleasant, so anything she does is usually a treat!

8/10 So here is the ED for Linebarrels of Iron: Ame ga furu by Maaya Sakamoto (download full song here!) UPDATE: Download the ED single here.

And here's the PV for the full song Ame Ga Furu, enjoy!
