8.5/10 Another nice singing cover, this time of the beautiful Diamond Crevasse! Apparently this one is a "HUGE nut for Macross Frontier" as she puts it, and she also cosplays Sheryl Nome. Not only does she look awesome as Sheryl, but her singing voice is perfect as well! Love it...

The Nodame Cantabile Paris ED song (Tokyo et Paris by Emiri Miyamoto x solita) has been whored out so much on this blog, I know... But it's just because people love it so much, and I'm even starting to like it myself! Now I'd give it a 7/10 Here's my initial review and the lyrics for the song. Earl and Fairy OP Single - FEELING by AciD FLavoR

After all the EDs that I recently reviewed, it's about time for a new OP review! This opening theme is for the new anime Earl and Fairy (Hakushaku to Yōsei), and it's called FEELING by AciD FLavoR (Someone has clearly issues with the CAPS lock key LOL). You can download the full OP single here.

5/10 At first I had trouble finding out if the person singing was male or female, and then I settled for male. I hope I'm right... Anyway, it's quite an average song in my opinion. Even the violin and guitar solos don't make up for the crappy melody and annoying voice... Let me know your opinion.

Ghost Hound ED album - YUCCA

Last week, someone requested the Ghost Hound ED in my shoutbox. I had never heard of the anime Ghost Hound, so it was a pleasant surprise to discover such a nice Ending Theme Song. It is entitled Call My Name ~Kaze Nari no Oka~ by Yucca. Another nice surprise is that the ED single is actually an ED album. It's actually Yucca's first album and it is also entitled Yucca. Yucca has an amazing soft and pure voice, that sometimes reminds me of Rurutia's voice. Unlike many J-Pop artists, her voice is classically trained, which is very pleasant on the ear. The album is filled with little gems, so I highly recommend it. You can download the first part here and the second part here.

Ponyo on the Cliff by the Sea - Theme Song

Today I discovered the theme song for Hayao Miyazaki's latest movie/masterpiece Ponyo on the Cliff by the Sea (Gake no ue no Ponyo). It's the only Miyazaki movie I have never seen so I can't wait for it... Once again, the soundtrack is composed by Joe Hisaishi, who happens to hold a very special place in my heart. Indeed, he was the first anime composer I discovered and he is also one of my favorite composers ever (anime or otherwise). His soundtracks for Miyazaki and Takeshi Kitano are always quite the treat. And this one for Ponyo is no different...
Ponyo on the Cliff by the Sea is the story of a baby fish/mermaid in the sea named Ponyo who becomes a human girl. You can download the theme song here. UPDATE: And for the live concert version with orchestra and choir it's here.

10/10 The Ponyo on the Cliff Theme Song is the sweetest thing ever. It is sung by the duo Fujimaki Fujioka together with the 8 year old Nozomi Ohashi. She's just too cute for words... Kawaiiii!:3 The song reminds me of course of the beautiful theme song for Tonari no Totoro (My Neighbor Totoro). It has that same uplifting feel to it. The combination between Joe Hisaishi's wonderful music and Nozomi's cute singing is really magical.

A new ED single just came out. This time it's the second ED of the anime Ef - A tale of melodies. You might want to check out the review I did for the OP and the first ED here. Fugly Ass Sheryl Nome - May'n Live in AFA'08

There's been a lot of buzz going around these days concerning the May'n performance at the Anime Festival Asia 2008 (AFA 08) in Singapore. Apparently there was some complaints from otakus about this and that. Others, however gave the Live show a great review!

I even read this really funny article about fanboys complaining about not being able to take pictures of May'n. Hmmm, I wonder why... Well, apparently May'n's management does not allow pictures of her because she is fugly as shit. Of course, when you're supposed to be the voice of the Galactic Fairy, it must be hard to look like a troll at the same time! Ok, maybe I'm exaggerating a little, but there are some pretty ugly shots of her out there. At least she can sing! Hehe...

I'm a huge fan of the Macross Frontier songs composed by Yoko Kanno, and especially the ones with Sheryl Nome/Uglay'n, sorry May'n. And I've seen some videos of her performance at the AFA'08, and she has an amazing voice live! Congratulations to her...

Soul Eater ED3 - Bakusou Yumeuta by Diggy-MO

Let's review a new ED: This time the new ending theme song of the hugely popular anime Soul Eater (give it up for Excalibur! *sigh*). It's called Bakusou Yumeuta by Diggy-MO. Diggy-MO was one of the first Japanese rappers to begin mixing English and Japanese and he has been classically trained on the piano for 10 years (50 Cent wanna try some piano playin? haha). 7.5/10 I'm usually not into Japanese rap but this song is just fun! I really like the melody and the rhythms. Quite the catchy song! And Diggy-MO's voice kinda reminds me of the great singer Rob Dougan (totally different style I know...).

Casshern Sins Insert Songs - Episode 8 (Janice)

I just finished watching the last Casshern Sins episode (episode 8) and I couldn't help noticing the two beautiful insert songs sung by Janice (Nami Miyahara). This episode was not only visually stunning but also aurally stunning thanks to these two songs (SKY and A Path).

8.5/10 SKY by Nami Miyahara was my favorite of the two songs. It was the song sung by Janice at the very end of the episode, when Casshern is outside fighting. Her song represents hope against the Ruin. It felt really emotional, especially the end with the piano. You can download a ripped mp3 of the song here.

8/10 A Path is sung at the very beginning of the episode, when we first get to meet Janice. The song is much shorter than SKY, but the melody is equally beautiful. Download the mp3 of the song here.

CHAOS;HEAD Insert Song Single - Haritsuke no Misa by FES

The day of the never ending Single releases continues... This time it's the insert songs for CHAOS;HEAD. In the third episode of CHAOS;HEAD, Takumi the delusional antihero goes to see the live concert of PHANTASM in which singer FES (Yui Sakakibara) sings two songs. The songs are apparently prophecies in the series and describe the murder event (creepy!). The first song, Haritsuke no Misa on the single is actually the second song that FES does, and the first song she performs is the second one on the single (confusing right?). 6.5/10 I really like FES' haunting voice on Haritsuke no Misa and I think it blends nicely with the electric guitar-driven sound. I love that heavy metal feel that the song has. It helps that the themes of the series are creepiness and mental delusion.

6/10 Harukanaru idei yona is more a metal ballad kind of song, but it stills features heavy guitars. I don't find the melody as inspiring this time, but I really appreciate the guitar solos on this one though.

CHAOS;HEAD ED Single - Super Special by Seira Kagami

It's finally out! The long awaited CHAOS HEAD ED single, containing the song Super Special by Seira Kagami. I've already made several posts about this song (here and here), so it's no surprise that I'm not a big fan of the song. But I know that many people love it, so here's the full ED single to download.

I don't understand why they called the single First Sight and put the emphasize on the song First Sight (which is not even that great by the way!). They should have at least included an instrumental version of Super Special for all the karaoke lovers!
